For generations, Prairie Estates Genetics (PEG) has provided dairy-specific forage to dairy farms of all sizes. In fact, since 1999, PEG has been the only company that specializes in dairy-specific hybrids. And after decades of intensive forage research, genetics testing, and in-the-field results, we’ve developed a groundbreaking forage solution that enables dairy farmers to get the Next-Gen Results they’ve always wanted for their farm, and the better they’ve always wanted for their lives. We do all of this because we’ve been there ourselves; we grew up on dairy farms just like yours. And we knew better was possible.

Rooted in Wisconsin

OUR FOUNDER | Ron Rogers, an Army veteran, started his forage career in 1985 and developed the forage testing program that we use today. Working for various seed companies, he noticed that the genetic varieties of seed corn that worked well for dairy farmers were consistently passed over by management for so-called “multi-purpose” grain hybrids that could be sold to a wider variety of farmers. In 1999 he started Prairie Estates Genetics to protect and steward genetic varieties that support and nourish the dairy industry specifically. He has dedicated his life to providing better seed & better service to dairies.

THE NEXT GENERATION | Ron’s daughter, Nicole, was born on a farm not unlike the dairies that Ron partnered with. She graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in Communications and spent the next twelve years working on the East Coast. But, in 2012, Nicole decided to return to her Wisconsin roots and move back to work with her parents at PEG. Today, Nicole is still proudly helping lead PEG into the future.

OUR TEAM | Our team is connected by our dedication to the dairying way of life. All of our Forage Managers were born and raised in Wisconsin, and each of them has worked on a dairy farm. The majority of them even attended college right here in the Dairyland. And, every day, we all ask ourselves the same question: How can we better serve our farmers today?
